 赵川是位作家、艺术评论家和戏剧工作者。他近年通过与同仁于2005年在上海创立的“草台班”，致力推动中国民间立场戏剧。他引导下的这个注重自我教育和集体性的工作团队，激发起非戏剧领域人士的剧场能量，策划非牟利的戏剧演出及国内国际互动。他是草台班相关理论和实践活动的主要策划者。他们的剧场作品已在中国大陆、香港、台湾和韩国演出。这些并是赵川艺术批评活动的延伸。在他创立草台班之前已有相当深厚的文学基础，曾荣获包括台湾联合文学小说新人奖等多项海外文学奖项。他常年为多家海内外媒体撰写文化艺术评论等，在中国美术学院及纽约大学上海中心客座讲授当代艺术史及戏剧实验课程。出版小说、当代艺术论述和随笔集等多种，编导剧场作品包括《蹲》、《狂人故事》、《三八线系列》和《厕所的脸》等。

Zhao Chuan, he is a writer, critic and theatre worker. In resent years, he devotes most of his time and energy into a local theatre group Grass Stage founded himself with the others in Shanghai in early 2005. Under his guides, this non commercial, self educated and collective theatre group was focused much attentions in the economical booming China, for their fresh thinking of against the conventional mode of theatre production and valued independent power from the mass community. He is mastermind both in theory and practice of the group’s social activates and their productions performed in Mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Korea. These efforts carry out and extend Zhao Chuan’s culture criticism from mass print medias. Before the establishment of Grass Stage, he already has very strong literature and arts background, was awarded Taiwan's prestigious Lianhe Wenxue (Unitas) New Fiction Writer's Prize in 2001 and received other Awards. He still writes arts columns and regularly publishes in major newspapers and art press in Mainland and Taiwan, teaches at the New York University in Shanghai and guest lectures in the China Art Academy. He has published two novels, three anthologies of essays and a book in Chinese contemporary art history. His theater pieces including Squat (playwright and director), Madmen Story 2007(collective playwrighting, director and actor), Madmen Story (collective playwrighting, director), Black Hole (playwright), 38^th Parallel in Taipei (playwright and director), 38^th Parallel Still Play (collective playwrighting, co-director and actor) and The Face of Toilet (playwright, director and actor) etc.

陈呈八十年代出生于常州，现于上海大学编导专业就读。个人创作作品《某》在上海、杭州等地演出。

Cheng Chen is born in Changzhou. She is studying in the Department of Film and Television Arts in School of Film and Television Technology in Shanghai University.Her solo show MOU performed at Shanghai and Hangzhou in 2008.

吴梦八十年代生于苏州，艺术家、自由撰稿人，平面设计师。草台班初创成员，曾参与创作演出《38线游戏》、《台北三十八度线》、《狂人故事》、《狂人故事，之私元年升级版》等戏剧作品。单人创作“我的苏州”系列作品之《只是吃》、《水上花》在上海、杭州，韩国首尔、光州等地演出。

Wu Meng grown up in Suzhou, is an artist, freelance writer and graphic designer. She is the founding member of Grass Stage theatre group in Shanghai. She’s collective playwright and actress for Madmen Story 2007, Madmen Story, 38^th Parallel in Taipei and 38^th Parallel Still Play etc. Her solo performance Flower in the Water and Eat Only had performed in Shanghai, Hangzhou and Seoul, Gwangju in Korea.

草台班是在上海发起的民间剧场实践团体，也是大陆目前日益引起关注的民间剧社。2005年初开始活动，目前由作家、戏剧工作者赵川主持日常活动和创作。“草台班”原指农闲时在婚丧嫁娶或节庆庙会上助兴的业余班子，是同仁们对保持民间色彩的鞭策。从创立初，草台班已激发起不少非戏剧领域人士的剧场能量，做非牟利的平民戏剧，破除看似已成定局的雇佣式剧场生产方式，寻找更富理想的戏剧和民间生活形态。成员们每周聚会，倡导民间自主能力，推进社会议题讨论、表演工作坊和集体创作等。近年连续以集体创作方式排演作品，并协助海外民众团体到上海演出。目前由草台班直接制作演出的剧场作品包括：《蹲》、《狂人故事，私元年升级版》、《狂人故事》、《38线游戏》及《台北38度线》等，在中国大陆、台湾、香港和韩国等地进行了演出。  

Grass Stage Theatre is an applied theatre group in Shanghai. It is a people’s theatre group that is attracting more and more attraction in China. Being active ever since the beginning of 2005, writer and theatre practitioner Zhao Chuan is responsible for regular activities and the creative stuff of the group. “The grass stage” originally refers to amateur theatre group performing during farming break, wedding, funeral and festivals in China. They intentionally chose that name to remind ourselves to keep the grassroots spirit. Since the formation of their group, they have sparked considerable amount of theatrical energy among people outside the regular theatre production in which being employ or commissioned seems to be the only legitimate way to start a production.
The members meet every week. The independent power of the community is valued and cherished. Based on this philosophy, they discuss social issues, organize workshops and undergo the process of creation together. In recent years, they have kept the practice of group creative work and help arrange people’s theatre groups from overseas to stage performance in Shanghai. Their works include Madman Story, 38° Parallel Still Play, 38°Parallel in Taipei etc., and they have been performing so far in China, Taiwan, Hong Kong and South Korea.

2008年
5-7月，开始“个人创作社区表演计划”，在浦东联洋年华社区、下河迷仓、“无国界文化共同体”募捐拍卖、上海大学“文学之夜”和杭州“灵隐·居”等处演出。
4月， 特邀“水边吧”江南藜果在上海非艺术中心演出《蹲》。

2007年
12月，开始举办“草台班之夜“活动。
11月，《狂人故事，私元年升级版》在上海下河迷仓演出。
 9月，协助“野战之月，海笔子”和北京帐篷小组帐篷剧《变幻 痂壳城》在北京演出。
         赵川与侯晴晖在宋庄做《地──北京宋庄2007.9.22》草台班工作坊。
 7月，“草台班”《狂人故事，私元年升级版》前往台北牯岭街小剧场、香港2007IDEA世界戏剧及教育大会年会、广州水边吧及深圳“出街展”做南巡演出。在台湾参与“两岸小剧场论坛”。

2006年
9月，“草台班”《狂人故事》在上海下河迷仓演出。
《狂人故事》上海复旦视觉艺术学院演出并做民众戏剧工作坊。
8月，策划并参与韩国民众戏剧协会“一个人的韩剧”来下河迷仓演出。
《狂人故事》受全国大学生戏剧节“青年论坛”邀请，在北京国话小剧场演出。
7月，参与策划"东亚民众戏剧网络“民众戏剧师资培训计划，派送两位成员去韩国参加为期一个月的培训和演出。
2月，协助策划台湾差事剧团《子夜天使》来上海演出，及举办民众剧场工作坊等。
1月，与香港及台湾合作《�K洞·结局》的上海版演出。

2005年
11月，《沸腾的社会案件》参与“下河迷仓”开幕活动演出。
10月，由“草台班”《38线游戏》延伸发展成的《台北38º线》，受邀参加2005台北艺术节之台北、上海、香港“三城戏剧共同体”演出。
6月，“草台班”《38线游戏》于上海下河迷仓演出。
5月，《38线游戏》作为韩国“2005光州亚洲广场戏剧节”首演剧目受邀演出。▲

Designated and Participated in the "One man's Korean Drama" by Korea People's Theatre Association at Shanghai Duoland Museum of Modern Art.
Madmen Story  was premiered at Guohua Theatre at the "Youth Forum" of 2006 Collage Theatre Festival of China.

Participated in the East Asia People's Theatre Network (EAPTN) "Trainer's Training Program", two member of Grass Stage went to Korea for one month's training and performance

Introduced and assisted Taiwan Assessment Theater Company to perform the <Midnight Angel> and run people's theatre workshop in Shanghai.
