Written and Acted By: Nawar Bulbul & Ramez Alaswad. An independent theatre Troupe, established in 2006 by Ramez Alaswad and Nawar Bulbul in Damascus, Syria. The Troupe aims to produce theatre shows depending on human (actors) power. They question the society and attempt to get inside humans which forms it. Holding the experimental spirit in acting methods, they break the stereotypes and the cliches. The Troupe search for modern acting methods which would go with the coming text through their creative, innovative and original experiences away of any other calculations. "A Feast Night Dream" and "The Solitary" have been performed and awarded in their home town Damascus, Syria, and other countries in the Middle East, Europe and North America. Now, we present the piece “The solitary” - the story of two men, a prisoner and a prison guard, sharing most of their time in one place, a prison cell. What future will they see as being drawn to each other? |

‘Unbearable Dreams’ was proposed as a series of collaboration with participants of Asia meets Asia. It has been performed four times in Tokyo, Hong Kong and Taipei in 2000, 2003, and 2009 respectively, with the participants from 9 areas, such as Hong Kong, Taipei, Shanghai, Saigon, Assam, Afghanistan, Dhaka, Seattle and Tokyo. While exploring possibilities for theatrical expression by our bodies, we have been bringing up issues in Asia today by interacting with concerns of each participant. For this time, our theme is ‘Return’. We will draw a diversity of unsecure lives in Asia through participants own experiences. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
