アジア・ミーツ・アジアはアジア現代演劇交流の発展を目指し1997年に開始。
以来、5回のフェスティバルを開催。アジア15地域から多数の劇団や演劇人を招聘し、
公演、ワークショップ、シンポジウム等にて交流を深めてまいりました。
この度の企画＜Unbearable
Dreams＞は、当フェスティバル参加者たちによって2000年に開始された、
アジア演劇人たちによる継続的な共同創作現場であり、これまでに3回の公演を東京、香港、台北にて
行い、言語を超えた演劇表現の可能性を模索しつつ、アジアの同時代性を問いかけてきました。
今回公演は、昨年秋に行われました「東アジア4都市＜上海・香港・台北・東京＞共同巡回公演
・魯迅『狂人日記』」に引き続き、新たにアッサム（北インド）とアフガニスタンからの参加者を
加え、アジア6地域からの演劇人たちによる共同創作公演となります。
Lost Homeと題されましたこの共同公演におきまして、
私たちは、それぞれのアジアにて“失われつつある生”、
その現実の一端を、そこに生きる“人々のナマの声”を収集し、交錯させます。
今日、世界最多の難民を生み出すアジア。
その原因と結果の世界に、生きる私たちは、
時に過去を悔やみ、現在に苦しみ、未来に不安を抱く。
･････歴史と記憶、社会と私がぶつかり合い、
生かされた生と、生きたかった生の、その境界に新たな希望を見いだす。
Let's say we ignored someone in our life in the past; maybe, a family member, someone we loved, a friend or anyone else. He passed away. We regret for what we could've done when he/she was alive. We' could've spend more time with him/her. We could've done something good to him/her. We regret and wish to have that opportunity once more and act differently.
As human beings, we think, decide and chose. We are responsible for our choices. We are white pieces of paper. Considering social, cultural and political factors, we write who and how we should be. Each choice comes with a lost opportunity. That is the other choice we didnt make. We lost an opportunity. If we have that choice what will we do? how will we act/react? What difference will that choice make to us and others?
When we have something, we posses something, we dont know the value/worth of that thing. But when we lose it, we regret and wish we acted differently. It is a lost opportunity.
Becoming an immigrant or living in exile makes us feel lost opportunity; home and homeland. When we had it, we never thought about or valued it how we do in immigration/exile. It is a lost opportunity.
It is the same with life. We have it, we dont worth it. When we lose it, it becomes very precious.
Whenever I use microwave, the timer reminds of time passing. It makes me think every second I get close to death. I age. I think about my life what I have done or achieved in the past. Who I am or what I have present and I need to do in the future. It makes me prioritize things in my life. At the same time, it scares me of death. Death to me is dark, black, and unknown. There is no sense of direction or time. There is no time and space. No colors. It is unknown. It is scary. Any unknown thing causes fear to human beings.
In the other version, when I think of death, I think I might meet with my close and lost family/friends whom I ignored before. I think I will act differently when I regain the lost opportunities. I will prioritize other things in my life when I am given those lost opportunities. Woody Allen's movie A Midsummer Night's Sex Comedy is a good example of lost opportunities.
